Oxford Police Detective John Jones observed a suspicious male near the rear door of Skyline at almost midnight Friday, April 13.
The officer reportedly thought that the male was urinating, but upon his approach, Jones noticed Miami University first-year Adam Reis was smoking in a corner, wearing a Skyline employee T-shirt.
Reportedly, Reis was smoking from a pipe, and the officer also said that he could smell marijuana in the area.
According to the police report, as Reis turned around, he was allegedly surprised by the officer's presence and began walking quickly back into the restaurant.
The officer commanded him to stop, but Reis allegedly ignored him. The officer grabbed Reis and took the pipe out of his hand.
At the station, Reis was cited with drug paraphernalia and drug abuse.
Brick Street Bar incident leads to fake ID charge
At around 1 a.m. Sunday, Miami University sophomore Brian Blaushild stopped Oxford Police Officer Robinson concerning his friend's inability to get into Brick Street Bar.
Blaushild reportedly asked the officer to pat down his friend down to prove he did not have any weapons, so he and his friend could enter the bar.
Robinson explained that OPD does not perform such actions.
Robinson urged Blaushild to discuss the matter with Brick Street Bar management during daylight hours.
Half an hour later, Blaushild approached the officer again complaining that he has been assaulted by Brick Street employees because his clothes did not fit the dress code.
He had allegedly been trying to hand his friend a belt when employees said he was causing a disruption, so they shut the door on Blaushild and his friend.
The officer reported the sophomore smelled strongly of alcohol during their conversation.
After discussing Blaushild with Brick Street employees, Robinson discovered that he had been belligerent with the staff, so he put Blaushild under arrest.
At the department, officers discovered a Maryland driver's license on Blaushild that was not his own and when they pointed out that he appeared intoxicated, Blaushild allegedly responded that he wasn't drunk he was "intoxicated."
When officers asked him how many beverages he had consumed to become "intoxicated," Blaushild reportedly replied, "Write this down - 10 beers - Natty Lights."
Blaushild was charged with underage intoxication and possessing a fake ID.
