MU first-year male falls through ceiling in dorm

At about 9 p.m. Wednesday, Miami University Police responded to a report from Emerson Hall that a male subject had fallen through the third floor ceiling. According to reports, first-year Paul Duff was apparently in the upper floor of the residence hall to retrieve a community vacuum when he saw a ladder leading to the attic.

According to Duff, curiosity convinced him to open the closed attic door. The report states that Duff navigated the attic using the light from his cell phone until he sat on a rafter. Allegedly, when Duff thought he placed his feet on bricks, he fell through the ceiling tile, damaging the tile, supports, and a florescent light. MUPD placed Duff in handcuffs and transported him to the station. He was charged with criminal mischief, but alcohol was not involved. Duff sustained light abrasions on his arm but refused medical treatment.

Female refuses to discuss night with Oxford police

Oxford police were dispatched at about 1 a.m. Thursday morning on a report of a female subject unable to walk outside of Brick Street Bar. When police arrived, Samantha Budd, 19, was leaning against a wall of the bar. When Budd noticed police approaching, she began heading back inside the bar, with assistance from her friends to walk. Police took note of a small puddle of vomit where Budd had just been sitting before speaking to her. There was a smell of alcohol on Budd and police questioned how she had come to drink so much when they noticed that she was 19 years old.

According to the reports, Budd allegedly responded that she'd rather not talk about it. Budd received citations for both underage intoxication and public intoxication. Police then escorted Budd and her friend back to Dennison Hall.

Route 27 walk results in Miami first-year citation

At approximately 9 p.m. March 8 - Green Beer Day - Oxford police were dispatched to Peffer Park on a report that three males were walking in traffic on U.S. State Route 27.

According to the reports, Officer Terrell met first-year Derek Parker when he was stumbling northbound on the road. Parker told the officer that he was 18 years old and reports said he had a strong odor of alcohol about him. When the officer advised him of his intoxication, Parker allegedly replied, "It's Green Beer Day officer."

Police then learned that Parker was in fact 19 years old. Parker was cited for underage intoxication and the two males with him were released, as they had appeared to be sober.
