University reduces faculty searches

To tighten its budget, Miami University has decreased the amount of searches it is conducting to fill faculty positions. According to Provost Jeffrey Herbst, the hiring freeze previously reported on is for staff. Searches to fill some faculty positions are being conducted.… 5 Comments

Oxford may see new thrift store

In an effort to serve the Oxford community, the Oxford Family Resource Center is planning on opening a thrift store in January 2009. Youth participation jumps by 1 percent in '08 election

The youth presence in this year's presidential election jumped only one percentage point, from 17 to 18 percent, according to the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE). Youth voter turnout was up to between 52 and 53 percent, and the youth made up 18 percent of the vote, according to data from CIRCLE.… 1 Comment

ASG increases campaign spending limits

Candidates for the top positions in Associated Student Government (ASG) will be cracking open their piggy banks for elections this year, with spending limits now up to $1,500 thanks to new rules approved by student senate Tuesday.
