Sheriff tackles illegal immigration

Deputies return from Georgia training, receive ICE certification

Eight officers of the Butler County Sheriff's office returned to Ohio this month after training with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Gainesville, Ga. The training lasted from Jan. 8 to Feb. 5, according to Butler County Sgt. Monte Mayer. He said the training established Butler County as the first law enforcement agency in Ohio to have the federal jurisdiction of ICE.… Post the First Comment

United Way discusses merger of local branches
Discussion on the possibility of a merger between four area United Ways is set to continue April 8, according to President of Warren County United Way Mike Schepers. A task force made up of representatives and executive directors of the Butler County, Warren County, Cincinnati and Dayton United Ways have been considering the possibility of a merger for the past year, Schepers said.… Post the First Comment

Oxford film festival increases repertoire

The Oxford International Film Festival (OIFF) reprises its role this year as the only major film festival in the region.
