Four more years!!

It's just like the Miami College Republicans to bring someone like Rove to campus. After all, this is the group that has been advocating hate for many years.

Andrew's response is an unsurprising attack (most likely from a College Dem) on College Republicans, who have gained much more support, enthusiasm, and notoriety than the democrats on campus for atleast the past 6 years. Instead of criticizing the Republicans for working hard to bring in a great speaker, why not encourage the Dems to work just as hard and do the same?

Come on Andrew this rhetoric is ridiculous. Can you at least try to be more specific with the 'advocated hate' you speak of. It is easy for liberals to say broad sweeping generalizations against Republicans, but it takes brains to be specific.

Try harder!

Thanks for your compliments Andrew. It is just like the College Republicans to bring someone like Rove on campus. Following speakers such as John Ashcroft, John Bolten, and Andy Card, Karl Rove would fit right in with these influential individuals. How about the Dems bring in someone who isn't, well, a typist?

Even as a Republican, I find Mr. Rove to be one the worst mouthpieces for conservatism. He has been caught in more "misrepresentations" than I care to recall, not the least of which was touting Ms. Palin's experience as Mayor of the second largest city in Alaska (pop. 150,000) as "small town". Please, Miami Republicans, you can do better than Rove. He does not speak ethically. He is a self-serving talking head whose 15 minutes are long since over.

it will be interesting to see if Mr. Rove is actually allowed to speak when he tries. The history of liberal protestors is of denying conservatives the opportunity to speak, especially on college campuses. Conservative speakers usually need security when they speak; liberal speakers are most often afforded their constitutional right to freedom of speech. I'm guessing Andrew's diatribe is the opening volley in a planned protest and plan to deny Mr. Rove his right to speak.

I can't see why any political organization would want to bring in a man who was responsible for the last two winning presidential campaigns. His experiences in the 2000 and 2004 races clearly show he would have nothing to offer in terms of Presidential Election analysis.

Interested Alum,

What are you talking about? Mr. Rove would be appearing as a PAID speaker. That does not bestow upon him any other right that he would not have were he to appear at any other public place and speak.

This man has helped to orchestrate the so-called election of the most disfavored president in the history of this country. I'd love to hear his version of how he sleeps at night.

*Sigh* General Democratic talking points. Wake me up when he has something original to say.

Jake,

I am not a Democrat, nor am I liberal. I am a true conservative who believes GW and Co. have not served conservative ideals with their vast wastes of unaccounted-for monies, and nation-building aspirations. Karl Rove is an insult to conservatism. Let him speak. It's Democratic.

"Too often we honor swagger and bluster and wielders of force; too often we excuse those who are willing to build their own lives on the shattered dreams of others."

Robert Kennedy's 1968 words seem particularly responsive to the decision to "honor" Karl Rove via a remunerated invitation to speak on our campus. I am saddened and appalled. Think, people, think!
