Dear President Hodge & Student body,

Our former president did nothing to help cure our school's pathetic lack of school spirit. That's quite obvious. What will you do??? I'm off-campus and do not get ESPNU which is the channel most of the games are on. Why wouldn't the school do something like open up Goggin or Millet and put TV's in there so students could come together to watch the games outside of dormrooms or bar settings? Our school puts academics first. I don't have a problem with that. Our school also basically ignores athletics. I have a problem with that. In today's society people become more aware of schools through athletics. Athletics are our greatest marketing tool. We have one of the best business schools in the country; how did no one figure this out by now?? These kids are putting themselves out there and giving it their all to represent the Red and White. Why can't we as a student body and we as a school come together to support them? Are we too busy watching an Ohio State game? If you can't support the school you go to then transfer.

I would have posted a reply sooner, but was too busy laughing.

First of all, if academics are first, then why should students transfer if they aren't interested in our athletics? I wonder what kind of attendance Harvard gets at their games? Face it - no one came to Miami because of the sports (except, of course, the athletes). People come to Miami because of the academics, campus, and beautiful women.

The administration does not care about sports? Is that new ice arena just an illusion?

It is quite hard to market Miami sports because we suck at the only sports that matter in this country. If you think that people outside of extreme hockey fans pay attention the NCAA hockey, you're kidding yourself.

Set up TV's at the Goggin? Less than 200 students would show up, and it would be the fanatics and freshman who can't get alcohol. Outside of that, people would be at bars getting drunk and watching the game.
