Since 2007 the Miami University club football team has risen above the ranks and gained national recognition for both its success on the field and its ability to develop a successful program. Combining forces with Xavier, Marquette and Southern Illinois a group of young men started the Midwestern Club Football Conference three years ago, which has expanded to three other schools since then, allowing a full season filled with lots of competition.

Cheaters never prosper, unless they play in the CCHA. That's what college hockey fans learned Halloween weekend via a league ruling that was all trick and no treat.

Bowling Green used an ineligible player to win an overtime shootout against Nebraska-Omaha, a detail the four referees did not see until after the game ended.

Miami University senior urban and regional planning major Mia DeNardi presented plans to construct an Amtrak stop in Oxford at Tuesday's Associated Student Government (ASG) senate meeting. ASG unanimously passed the resolution to support the project. In April, DeNardi presented the project to Oxford City Council, which passed the motion to draft the letter of support to Amtrak and Ohio Rail Development Commission.

As the community editor for The Miami Student I often receive information about what's going on around Oxford before everybody else.

These thrilling tips can include information about the next apartment complex construction project, when a new store, restaurant or bar is opening (yes, I am somehow on the Chipotle press release list serv) or my personal favorite: information I receive from companies across the country about their latest and greatest product I should publicize to the readers of The Student - the most recent being the "TredDesk," a height-adjustable work station that attaches to an existing treadmill so people can exercise while at work and ultimately curb the rising obesity rates … at an affordable price, of course.

A few days ago, I received a call from the notorious "unknown caller." I answered, only to hear an odd silence. I spent a few moments repeating, "Hello? Helloooo?" until a voice suddenly came on with a plain, monotone drone, the kind that tells you there is nothing near a living human on the other end of the line.

It is known as the land of hot music, beautiful bodies and raucous parties. No, it's not Oxford, Ohio, but rather Rio de Janeiro, which, in dramatic fashion, beat out Chicago, Madrid and Tokyo in early October to win the International Olympic Committee (IOC) bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

In the production Miss Witherspoon, Miami University students painted a picture of the afterlife that is both dramatic and humorous.

Put on by Alpha Psi Omega and USITT (United States Institute of Theatre Technology), Miss Witherspoon was an enchanting story of a woman who had no desire to return to middle-earth.

Anybody who knows me can vouch when I tell you I am more than a casual fan of Dave Grohl and company.
