Students take part in Miami Metro's Dine and Drive Express event Monday.

The Miami Metro has tapped into the two things Miami University students love: free food and free rides.

Miami Metro's Dine and Dash Express will continue to run Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. The Dine and Dash Express will be using the orange and purple routes to transport students to various dining halls to sample free food at each location.

Senior Sarah Jones, a Spanish and English education major, said she thought the program sounded interesting.

"I think free food is pretty awesome," Jones said.

Students can participate in one or both of the express routes for free food and prizes.

Vanessa Cummings, assistant director at parking and transportation services, described the program as a moving party.

"We just want students to come and have a good time with us," Cummings said.

The bus routes were designed to avoid the chaos of class change. This was the first time dining has teamed up with the Miami Metro to spotlight dining halls on campus, according to Cummings. One of the goals of the event was to have students get more information about positive programs on campus.

"It will help them to have the right information about buses, the right information about parking, and the right information about dining halls," Cummings said.

Cummings also said students would get the opportunity to ask questions about the different dining halls and bus routes. Cummings used the example if students live on Central quad, they most likely always eat at Harris because it's closest, but if a student were to jump on a bus they could be at Alexander or Erikson within 10 minutes.

"It's definitely a good program to let us know how we could get to different dining halls pretty easily," Jones said.

According to Cummings, students can participate in as much or as little of the routes as they choose. Students can show up to any of the locations on the route and participate in part or the entire event.

The first bus route will be the orange route, which leaves Shriver at 11:17 a.m. The orange bus will travel to Hydrations for free smoothies, Alexander for free pastas and La Mia Cucina for free desserts before returning to Shriver.

The second bus route will be the purple route, which leaves Shriver at 12:41p.m. The purple bus will travel to Erickson for free egg rolls, Dividend$ for free cafe au lait and Martin for free pizza before returning to Shriver.
