IHOP to offer free pancakes in national fundraising effort

National Pancake Day is Tuesday, Feb. 24. IHOP restaurants across the nation will be celebrating by offering three free buttermilk pancakes at any IHOP. While the pancakes are free, all donations will go to The Children's Miracle Network and other charities. IHOP's goal this year is to reach $1 million in fundraising.

The free pancakes will be offered from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. In 2008, IHOP raised more than $875,000 for charity. According to the IHOP National Pancake Day Web site, $35,000 has been raised so far this year.

The IHOP National Pancake Day said the holiday, which is the same day as Mardi Gras, dates back several centuries to when the English prepared to fast during Lent. IHOP began celebrating National Pancake Day in 2006.
