WMUB receives 17 journalism awards
The Ohio Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) has awarded WMUB's news radio team 17 awards, including first place in Best News Operation and second place in Best Continuing Coverage for their coverage on "Windstorm Aftermath."
The Ohio SPJ Awards honor various types of journalism, including print, broadcast, online, trade and college journalism in Ohio. WMUB has been managed by Cincinnati Public Radio since Miami University discontinued local operations March 1.
Panel to discuss hazing prevention
In celebration of National Hazing Prevention Week, a panel discussion will be held at 7 p.m Wednesday, Sept. 23, in 25 Farmer School of Business to battle hazing on the Miami University campus.
The Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Leadership and the Miami chapter of Order of Omega are co-sponsoring the event to combat hazing. The panelists will be the president of Lambda Chi Alpha, Christopher Taylor from the Office of Ethics and Student Conflict Resolution, the director of chapter services for Phi Delta Theta general headquarters and Timothy Burke, a founding partner of the Manley Burke Law Firm in Cincinnati. Burke's firm specializes in fraternal law and is a legal consultant for Greek organizations. Student organizations in attendance will be featured in The Miami Student.
Panel to discuss hazing prevention
The Farmer School of Business' 14-month MBA program was recognized by The Wall Street Journal's inaugural ranking of accelerated MBA programs worldwide. Miami was rated ninth overall and third among programs in the United States.
Five of the top 15 programs are at American universities. The Wall Street Journal considered 52 accelerated programs.
Alumni from the programs were allowed to offer their input on their program. Miami's alumni of the accelerated program responded at the highest rate of any school with 67 percent.
Miami's MBA program includes a two-semester internship and six-week global consultancy in each student's experience.
