Symposium focuses on women's leadership
The Women's Leadership Symposium and Celebration is celebrating Miami University's Bicentennial in its ninth year with a theme of "Looking Back, Leaping Forward: Changing Legacies of Women's Leadership." The symposium will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 at the Shriver Center.
Registration for the breakout sessions throughout the day is not required but suggested and can be done at the Women's Center in 206 MacMillan Hall or online at http://www.units.muohio.edu/womenscenter/programs-and-events/womens-leadership-symposium-and-celebration.

Speakers share stories of life in West Germany
Miami University's department of German, Russian and East Asian languages (GREAL) will host "Border Crossers: Personal Stories about the Berlin Wall." The program will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It will be held at 4 p.m., Oct. 22 in 322 McGuffey Hall.
Speakers will include Peter Seifert, Wolfgang Müller and Burkhard Militzer. They will speak about their experiences living in the former German Democratic Republic and their time crossing the border to West Germany.
The event will be held in both German and English.

5K run to benefit Make A Wish Foundation
A 5K run will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 at Millett Hall. To sign up, search Facebook.com for "Chi Omega's Trick or Trot 5K" or e-mail trickortrot5k@gmail.com. Those who sign up before Oct. 21 pay $15 and those who sign up at the race pay $20. All proceeds are donated to the Make A Wish Foundation.
