Noise violation leads to mushroom, pot charges
At 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oxford Police officers responded to a noise violation at 302 1/2 S. Main St.
When officers arrived, none of the residents could be located, and officers entered the front door of the residence and found several people in the kitchen.
According to police, none of the subjects claimed to live in the home and officers began telling people to leave.
Officers then went upstairs, where they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from one of the bedrooms.
When police entered the room, they reportedly found several bags of what appeared to be mushrooms in plain view along with a glass bong typically used for smoking marijuana.
Police then reportedly spoke with Miami University junior David Procelli, who had just come home, and issued him a citation for a noise violation.
Officers then obtained and served a search warrant at the residence.
During the search, officers reportedly found bongs, glass pipes, marijuana seeds and bags of marijuana and mushrooms.
Police also reportedly found a driver's license belonging to Miami junior Andrew Yurko and a wallet belonging to Miami sophomore Nicholas Baxter containing both Baxter's driver's license and a license belonging to Patrick Baxter, 23.
In addition, police found a rug in the home belonging to the Miami University Recreational Sports Center and an elevator sign belonging to Miami University.
According to police, Baxter and Yurko were taken to OPD where Baxter was charged with possession of a fake I.D., drug paraphernalia and drug abuse, while Yurko was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse.
Procelli and another resident of the home, Miami junior Samuel Cullen, were charged with stolen property by MUPD.
First-year steals roommate's identity, purchases gift cards
At 3 p.m. Monday, Oxford Police officers arrested Miami University first-year April Simms at the Campus Avenue Building on a warrant from Oxford Police Department.
Simms and her boyfriend, Miami first-year Terrell Lee, allegedly stole her roommate's identity and used it to buy gift cards at Wal-Mart.
According to police reports, Simms and Lee also passed false checks belonging to acquaintances at Oxford Commons.
The Miami University Police Department reportedly called OPD when they learned Simms was at the Bursar's Office. According to OPD, the MUPD charged Simms with passing bad checks.
According to police reports, Simms was charged with intimidation of a victim by OPD and taken to Butler County Jail.
Officers respond to fight, subject injures MU student
At 2 a.m. Wednesday, Oxford Police officers responded to a fight inside Bruno's Pizza.
When police arrived, they met with a Miami University sophomore who alleged a large black male punched him in the head.
The victim then reportedly identified a man standing in front of the store as his assailant.
Officers arrested Joshua Sanders, 22, and charged him with assault.
OPD arrest junior for failure to appear in court hearings
At 5 p.m. Monday, Oxford Police officers went to Butler County Area One Court regarding four warrants for Miami University junior Jillian Moore.
Moore reportedly failed to appear in court for minor traffic misdemeanors.
