It's time for another exciting year of Miami University Athletics. Here are the ABCs of the RedHawks:
A is for our Athletes, who come as students first. With impressive GPAs and a strong approach to academics, they are extremely well-versed.
B is for Brad Bates, the athletic director of this school. He has turned teams around and lifted programs off the ground since Miami came under his rule.
C is for Charlie Coles, the head coach of the basketball team. A Miami icon for many years still leads the 'Hawks to their NCAA dream.
D is for Dedication, which all of our athletes show. Everyone is proud to wear the Red and White even after our players go pro.
E is for Enrico Blasi, Rico to us all. He is in charge of the hockey team, starting every fall.
F is for Frozen Four, the crown jewel of college hockey, you see. Miami made its first trip last year and now looks to win the championship trophy.
G is for Goggin, where your see some of the campus greats. Students line up hours before game time to make sure they have a seat for the greatest show on skates.
H is for Coach Haywood, who will bring winning football back to the school. He is hard-nosed and dedicated, and we hope he will make other teams play the part of the fool.
I is for Ice Hockey, the sport Miami has made its own. With one of the nation's best programs, this small southwest Ohio town has a hockey tone.
J is for John. D. Millett Hall, Millett as it's known to the fan. We watch both basketball teams dominate the competition as only Miami teams can.
K is for Knowledge, of which our student athletes have for their sport. They are well coached and pay attention, which is why they are so good at their sports.
L is for Love and Honor, the motto that we follow here. Everyone is proud of our RedHawks as you'll see with our apparel and gear.
M is for Maria Fantanarosa, who has spent more than a decade coaching the women's basketball players. Her teams have always been successful and fundamentally sound, a treat for the ticket payers.
N is for Nationally ranked, where here at Miami we strive to go. Our teams have been winning since ages ago.
O is for Outstanding, the way to describe our Cradle of Coaches. Names from Miami live in coaching lore because of their winning approaches.
P is for Pride, something Miami carries well. With an athletic program like ours, we always know the team can excel.
Q is for Quit, something that will NEVER happen here. All teams fight as hard as they can year after year after year.
R is for the REAL Miami. That's how you'll hear us be listed. We may be referred to Miami (OH), but we were a university before Miami (FL) existed.
S is for synchronized skating, a team at Miami that is world-class. When they have a show you simply can't pass.
T is for Tim Staples, who works in Miami's office of residence life all day. He is at almost every single sporting event, so find him. He'll never be out of your way.
U is for Undergraduates, the student-athletes that represent the institution when they look into the mirror. With such a high graduation rate, you see almost all the athletes for more than one year.
V is for Victory, something we're used to at this school. We have winning teams even when the squads have to retool.
W is for Women's sports, where Miami is a Mid-Major best. Volleyball, softball and basketball can always pass the NCAA test.
X is for Xylophone, like the ones you hear in the band. They attend all big sporting events pumping up the crowd and making them stand.
Y is for Yager Stadium, home of our football squad. Watch the Red and White take on the MAC and more on top of the home field sod.
Z is for Zealous, the way I hope you'll support the Red and White. It's very special to be part of a team that has such unbelievable fight.
And for all you returning RedHawk fans that know everything about the Miami brand, make sure you give your support to Miami all year long, so we can be the greatest in all the land.
