The Red and White will challenge the Toledo Rockets in MAC play this weekend.

After opening MAC play with a strong showing at Eastern and Western Michigan universities, the RedHawks wrapped up a four game set at home, going 1-3 to even their MAC record at 4-4. With the three losses this weekend, Miami fell to 17-16 on the year.

Although the first home MAC series of the year was disappointing for the RedHawks, they look at this weekend as a chance to regain their consistency, as they visit the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University.

"To get back on track we need to get back the consistency that we had earlier in the season," junior infielder Sarah Billstrom said. "We need our lineup to come through this weekend. Coach has told us that it takes three things to win a game: pitching, hitting and fielding. If we bring two of those aspects into this weekend's game, we will have a shot at winning. This week I think we will work a lot on hitting."

The RedHawks' first games on the trip are against the Toledo Rockets, a team coming off an impressive series sweep of previously undefeated MAC team Northern Illinois.

"When we look at Toledo, they are a good team, and they just swept Northern Illinois, who was the only undefeated team left in the MAC," sophomore catcher Jenna McGivney said. "We don't have any games this week, so we have time to get our minds ready and come out and play our best this weekend."

After a double-header against the Rockets Friday, Miami heads to Bowling Green to face off with the Falcons Saturday and Sunday. Like Toledo, the Falcons look to be a tough opponent.

"When we look at Bowling Green, their strength has always been their pitching," Billstrom said. "They have a good pitcher going up against us, but I think our lineup is very good and capable of beating her. If we get consistency out of our lineup, we will do well this weekend."

The games start at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Friday. The first pitch will be thrown at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday for the series against Bowling Green.
