Metro drivers seek support for union

Those driving past the Miami Metro bus garage on the corners of Locust and Spring Streets Aug. 25 may have noticed bus drivers waving green AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) union flags. The employees were there to vote to start a union or not. The final vote was 32-3 in favor of the union. By having a union, we will have a say in the way we are treated as employees. Well-treated employees that are paid a decent wage and benefits make better bus drivers and will give the students of Miami University the bus system they pay for and deserve.

The bus drivers hope we can count on the students to support our fight. All of us at the Miami Metro take great pride in what we do, and we feel like we play a small part in the success and lives of the students who ride our buses every day. Thank you for your support.
